The 13B’s took on Avonmore at Whitegates this morning in their first home game of the season. After winning their first two games of the season on the road they were hoping to keep their unbeaten run intact. Unfortunately it wasn't to be as the Rathdrum based team ran out 5-2 winners. Rovers got off to a nightmare start conceding two early goals. Sam Conyard got Rovers back into the game with a well taken goal just before the break and on the balance of play they will be wondering how they weren't on level terms going in at the break. The second half started similar to the first with Avonmore scoring an early goal to go 3-1 up but Rovers showed great character when soon after Milo Malcolmson made it 3-2 with a super run down the left and a great finish. While pushing for the equaliser Rovers got caught on the break as Avonmore made it 4-2. The away side added a fifth in the last few minutes of the game. Rovers will wonder how this one got away as they controlled the game for large periods and created numerous openings but to Avonmore's credit when their chances came along they tucked them away.
