The under 13's played their last match of the season today away to St Patricks of Avoca. With a full team for the first time all season (bar the injured Daniel Coffey), the lads put on a display of skilful patient football and ended up with a comprehensive 5 -1 victory. Captain Sean Patrick Guerin lead by example and set a very high standard for the others, a warriors standard they all met. Sean Patrick sealed his performance with a well-taken goal himself.
Other goals came from Ronan Phelan x1 Josh McCall x1 Naoise Delaney x 2
In Goals and a commanding presence was Conor Martin who didn't put a foot wrong. A back four of Shane O'Reilly, Luke Finnigan, Oisin Conlon and Jack Healy, were solid and meshed beautifully. The midfield was bossed by David Johnson whose vision and touch are a joy to watch. He was injured for most of the season and it is brilliant to see him coming back to his best. Sam Behan was ferocious and held up and interrupted play for the team when some very strong tackles were needed. Ronan and Josh on the wings caused havoc throughout and both thoroughly deserved their goals. With the lads having worked so beautifully from the start, it was time to up the tempo for the last 25 minutes. Coming on and adding some real energy were Nathan Gough, Cathal Cannon and Cillian Czwalina. The three lads were able to jump in and out of various positions as manager Darren Coffey needed.
