Our Leinster Senior side travelled to County Meath to take on Dunboyne AFC this afternoon. When the sides met at Whitegates in early October the Meath side ran out 4-2 winners so the lads were up for this game seeking to reverse the result this time round. On the half hour mark Adam Cox swung in a pin point corner which found the head of Sam Brown who nodded home to give Rovers the lead. This remained the scoreline going in at the break. Ten minutes into the second period Rovers doubled their lead, Ciaran McGettigan picked the ball up on the halfway line, ran at the home defence skipping past three players before coolly slotting home to make it 2-0. The home side came back into it on sixty five minutes when they capitalised on a Rovers error to halve the deficit. With fifteen minutes left Ciaran McGettigan nabbed his second when he finished well after good work from Nathan Sullivan to restore their two goal cushion. On the stroke of full time Rovers got caught with a counter attack with the home side firing home their second of the game to make it a nervy end for Rovers. The lads calmed the nerves deep into injury time when great work from McGettigan saw him set up David Hennerby who made no mistake slotting home Rovers fourth goal to secure all three points. This was an excellent team performance with every player working their socks off and a valuable three points which firmly puts them back in the promotion mix.
