Our under 13's lost 2-1 to Arklow United at Whitegates tonight. The lads put on a fabulous display of patient football.
Wicklow were dominating possession and somewhat against the run of play the away side went in front when their centre forward powerfully fired home. Five minutes later Wicklow were rewarded when a powerful arcing header from Jack O'Leary went into the top left corner of the goal.
The second half saw both teams battling hard and Wicklow looked more likely to get a goal when an Arklow free kick was pumped into the congested box, pinball ensued resulting in Arklow getting the crucial touch to score and go 2-1 up. Rovers kept pressing but time ran out. The away fixture to Arklow next week is sure to be a cracker.
