Our under 13's won a highly entertaining match against Ashford Rovers this morning in Whitegates. Credit to Johnny and the ground staff for having the pitch in great nick after all the rain.

Wicklow started brightly moving the ball around at pace looking for openings. They were creating chances but didn't get the luck in front of goal. It was the Rovers of Ashford who went in front with a fine strike. Wicklow pushed for an equaliser but Ashford held out to go in at the break one up.

The second half got off to a dream start for Wicklow when Sean Patrick Guerin bore down on goal before releasing the perfect pass to Sam Behan who fired a rocket past the keeper to level matters.

A minute later it was 2-1 to the home side, Naoise Delaney cut in from the right-wing before unleashing a shot which sneaked in at the near post. It got better when Wicklow won a free kick just outside the area, up stepped captain Shane O'Reilly to blast home to make it 3-1.

The away side never gave up and twenty five minutes into the half they pulled one back with a powerful strike, 3-2 and all to play for. Both sides had chances in the remaining minutes but no further goals were added as the Rovers of Wicklow ran out 3-2 winners. The team management would like to thank the players from the under 12's who helped out on the day and thanks to the parents for their support.
