Our under 18 girls entertained St Ita's of Portrane in the first round of the Lee Brothers cup and what a game it proved to be. The first half proved to be a tight affair and the girls had Abbie Smith to thank for keeping them in it in the first half with three excellent saves. Then the girls turned on the style hitting seven goals past the away side and restricting the Dublin side to a couple of goals. Molly Sweeney was on fire in front of goal as she treated the watching spectators to a fantastic display of clinical finishing with every type of finish you could think of on display. Aoife Caffrey also got in on the act with a sweet strike from way out on the left. It was an excellent team performance from the girls but a special mention goes to Abbie Smith who was outstanding between the posts, Molly Sweeney for her six clinically taken goals and Aoife Connolly who played a captains part with her performance and driving the team on. Another fantastic display from the whole team.
