Our MGL under 18 girls met Lusk United in their second runout of the season on Sunday morning at Whitegates. Following on from last week’s 9-7 win the girls went one better this week hitting ten goals. They were fast out of the traps and started very well.
Molly Sweeney opened the scoring and by the end of the game had bagged herself six in total to make it eleven in two games with each goal clinically finished. Aoife Caffrey put in a great performance and came away with a brace of goals, her second brace in as many games. Emma Waters also bagged a brace with her first goals of the season. The visitors had good chances at times and never gave up and even though they missed a penalty they came away with two good consolation goals. Even though Rovers were the better side they had to call on Abi Smith in the Rovers goal to make three excellent saves. All in all this was a very impressive display from the girls with every player playing their part in a stunning performance.
There are a few new faces in the squad this year and each of them are really starting to gel well with the team. It was another week where every single player put in a great performance and the 10-2 finishing scoreline was well deserved. Well done girls.
