Everyone at Wicklow Rovers AFC were shocked to hear of the sudden passing of another loyal supporter of the club over the years. The sad news reached us that Stephen Doyle sadly passed away yesterday.
Stephen was a loyal supporter to the club in which his father John was a founder member. Stephen was always on the sidelines cheering on Rovers in all types of weather. It was back in the 80's and 90's and Stephen very seldom missed a game. He would always join the team for drinks afterwards where he would enjoy the banter about his beloved Manchester United, mind you back then he always had the upper hand.
There was nothing he didn't know about United or Rovers. Stephen then moved onto officiating games at junior level when he became a referee. Stephen was a lovely young man who would hold his own in the banter stakes. He would always defend his two clubs and showed his support for them with his commitment.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his sisters Helena and Joanne, his nieces and nephews Jack, Rachael, Maya, Abbie, Lily, Sophie, Ruby and Myla, his extended family and friends. May Stephen rest in peace 🙏
