Our U14C team faced Roundwood in the early kick-off this morning at Whitegates in the U14 Division 1. The game started brightly for Rovers, but Roundwood scored two quick goals in the first half, which the home side will be disappointed to concede. However, this deficit seemed to spark Rovers into life, and they competed admirably for the remainder of the half, creating a number of good opportunities.

Their perseverance was finally rewarded following a great corner from Cayden O'Malley. The ball was played back across the goal by Finn Malone and fell to Rovers' Man of the Match, Charlie O'Neill, who emphatically buried the ball past the Roundwood keeper and defenders. Rovers had chances to level before the break but couldn't quite find the finishing touch.

Roundwood quickly reasserted their dominance early in the second half, scoring their third goal. Their fourth goal was the pick of the bunch, coming from a pinpoint free-kick on the edge of the box that nestled into the top corner, leaving Rovers keeper Loukas Karamalis with no chance. While this goal effectively ended ending the match as a contest, Rovers kept battling, creating a couple of half-chances. But it was Roundwood who finished the stronger, adding a final goal to their tally.

Despite the tough 5-1 result, there are positives to take from the team's determined displays and periods of strong play. Well done to Roundwood and thanks to them for a sporting game.
