Wicklow Rovers secured a very good 4-0 away win against Shillelagh today. It was a strong all-round performance from all twelve players involved.
Ryan Cox opened the scoring with a screamer of a free kick. Josh Murphy then deservedly got his first goal for the team after working hard. Rovers went into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
While Shillelagh threatened a few times in the match, the Rovers defense was rock-solid, with Harry Bowen, Ben O’Leary, and Seb Phelan performing exceptionally well. Robbie McCoy added a third goal, and Dan Connolly claimed the fourth, sealing the victory.
Sam Czwalina earned Man of the Match today, not only for some fine saves but especially for his excellent organization and encouragement of the players in front of him.
