Our U11 Blue team made the trip to take on Ashford Rovers Yellow this afternoon, with a coveted spot in the Jimmy Hackett Cup quarter-finals on the line!
In what proved to be a very entertaining game, both teams worked incredibly hard for each other, creating several attacking opportunities. Wicklow Rovers finished the first half strong, netting two well-worked and calmly taken goals.
Full credit must go to Ashford; they showed great resilience, remaining well-organised and continuously pushing for a goal. They managed to pull one back early in the second half and kept the pressure on, searching for an equalizer. Rovers had a few chances of their own but couldn't convert. However, our defense stood strong, and as the game neared its conclusion, we found that crucial third goal, easing the pressure and sealing our progression.
Well done to the Rovers U11 Blues for advancing into the Jimmy Hackett Cup quarter-finals! And a big thank you to Ashford for such an entertaining and spirited game.
