Wicklow Rovers 4-2 Arklow Town
A thrilling encounter took place at Whitegates this afternoon as Arklow Town traveled up the M11 to face our U14A's. Will Carey opened the scoring for Rovers in the 5th minute, but Arklow quickly responded, leveling the score in the 23rd minute. The visitors took the lead just five minutes later with a well placed header from a corner kick, leaving Rovers 2-1 down at halftime.
However, the team in green refused to give up. They started the second half brightly and soon equalised when Jack Collins scored from a well-taken Alex Philippon corner kick. Just six minutes later, Rovers took the lead when Mikie O'Neill pipped the keeper to a through ball courtesy of Carey. Arklow pushed hard for an equaliser but were caught out when Chris Delahunt's pressure caused confusion in their backline, allowing him to poke home Rovers' fourth.
